Preliminary Task Evaluation

In what way does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of the real media products?
For our preliminary task we used a few different media conventions this included match on match action, shot reverse shot and close ups. We showed shot reverse shot by creating a storyline of a conversation between two people about friends borrowing each others things. For our match on match action we showed one of our characters going towards the door and then another shot showing her opening it and coming through. We also used 180 degree rule which is a feature of continuity editing. We used all these shots to create a short clip all together.
We used different techniques which also developed upon our ides for example when one of the character put her hand on the table and the camera uses a red light and zooms in, making the viewer realise somethings wrong.
We used the 'Benny Hill' theme music because its a well known piece of music even though its old, but also because the music makes the atmosphere more funny and creates that sense of the audience getting involved. or feeling involved. We also used the cricket music to show the awkward silence between the two characters.

How does your media product represent particular social groups?
The target audience for our media product is female teenagers/young adults. We aimed our product at this age group because people at this age our likely to get into a situation like our media product, also because this contain humorous and funny language which older people and boys might not prefer to watch rather then someone aged between 13-18. Younger girls are more likely to be using those terms and having more of that attitude. This can represent younger girls by saying that's how they talk and act in a stereotypical way but can be taken as comedy at the same time.

What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?
I think that my media product would be distributed to a British films institution because this is where its most likely to be watched by a larger variety of the target audience, which is mainly teenage/young girls. This is because these viewers are more likely to understand and appreciate the sarcastic humour.

How did you attract/address your audience?
To attract our target audience we made sure we used and showed somethings that would link to actual teenagers/young adults. This could include language and humour or how the characters look and what they were wearing. We also did this by creating a storyline which was catchy and resembled maybe a real life situation. We used younger characters to play parts of the role this also is a attraction. Another thing we did to attract our audience was by using the 'Benny Hill' theme music for a fast chase effect.

What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?
In the making of this product I have started to learn how to use the MAC properly and its Imovie. I also have learnt new skills such as using different techniques to edit lighting, deleting scenes, adjusting image lighting and sound/music effects to add onto scenes to create the atmosphere and something exact to suite the scene. Another things i learnt during this process is how to get the camera angles right and making sure the lighting in which the characters are is the correct place.
