T.V Drama Research


Teen dramas:
A teen drama is a type of drama that focuses on teen characters. Eastenders storyline looks at the domestic and professional lives of people who live and work in London Borough of Walford in the East End of London. The series was originally screened as two half-hour episodes per week, but since August 2001 four episodes are being broadcasted each week, with each episode being repeated on BBC One at 22.30pm.


Soap Operas:
Soap opera is an on-going drama which has episodes of dramatic fiction presented in a serial format. Coronation Street is one of the top three soap opera in Britain along with Eastenders and Hollyoaks.

Period Dramas:
A period drama is period place which elaborates costumes, sets and properties that are featured to capture the ambience of a particular era. It is an informal way of saying that this includes several genres.


Medical Dramas:
A medical drama is a television programme based on and around events which focuses on a hospital, ambulance staff or any medical environment. Medical dramas usually last up to an hour per episode. The typical narrative might be two doctors or two people within the medical environment fall in love. Casualty is one famous medical drama its scheduling time wasn’t set but usually came on at 8.00pm till 9.30pm.

Docu-Drama:
A docudrama is a documentary-style genre that features dramatized re-enactments of actual historical events.
